Interview with the President of AZFA Canter of the University of Mazandaran

Please tell us that for Persian to become a reference language in the world of science and knowledge, What role do you see for your center?

As you are aware, Persian was the second language of the Islamic world for a period of time, and in one period it can even be claimed that because a large percentage of Islamic sciences such as Fiqh, Osul, Rejal, Derayeh, Sarf, Syntax, literature and interpretations of the Holy Quran was presented to the Islamic world by Persian speakers and in Persian, it was the first language of the Islamic world. It is worth mentioning that many of the regions that accepted Islam, for example, in the Indian subcontinent, it was Persian speakers who spread Islam. It seems that today we need to be able to revive that civilization and culture again, and the Persian language is the best tool for the revival of Islamic civilization and it can spread Islamic culture in all parts of the world.

Please tell me what role you set for the quantitative and qualitative increase of foreign students.

As it was discussed before, we live in the north of Iran and in an area that has different nature and culture. Of course, this means that it has a Shiite culture. The efforts made by our center to spread the Persian language are efforts aimed at familiarizing the students who choose Mazandaran University to study, which is familiarizing with the local culture and the splendor of culture and civilization, especially in the province of Mazandaran. It is also considered with the nature of the province. However, there are potentials in Mazandaran province that are probably less available in some places. At AZFA Center of Mazandaran University, our main effort has been to show these potentials to language learners and students through organizing camps, brochures, lecture sessions and face-to-face meetings.

Do you consider the nature of the north to be your competitive advantage?

This can be an advantage. Also, the native culture of our province can be an advantage.

Please tell us, how important is it for AZFA centers to be in the international fairs of study on the inside and outside of the country?

AZFA Center's task is not only to teach Persian to non-Persian speakers, but also to familiarize the audience with Iranian and Islamic culture. The efforts of the University of Mazandaran in the fair is to be able to expose the achievements of the university in the AZFA center within Mazandaran through brochures, handicrafts of the province, to introduce the cultural highlights and ancient civilization of Iran to foreign students.

You are aware, Mr. Doctor, that in October of this year, we will have the first international exhibition of how

We are going to have a fair of study in the Grand Mosalla Mosque of Tehran, how will your center’s presence be in the fair? With what program and items will you participate in the fair?

We have started preparations for our presence at the international fair for more than a month. Arrangements for the presence of AZFA Center of the University of Mazandaran has been made through the distribution of brochures, works and publications of the center and handicrafts, which are the results of the artistic activities of students and faculty members over a month ago.

Well, if you want to make a suggestion for the AZFA center, or other centers in fact to increase their advertising and media power, what would you suggest?

AZFA centers need special attention, I’ve told Mr. Dadashpour today at the same meeting. More AZFA centers are the result of the efforts of scientific colleagues and university experts. As a rule, it needs more support from the honorable Ministry of Science, Research and Technology and especially the honorable organization of student affairs. It is expected that the Honorable Ministry of AZFA will solve the organizational chart task of the Persian language teaching centers and avoid the dispersal of behavior in AZFA centers.
