Interview with the president of Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman

What does the internationalization of the university mean?
The internationalization of the university has an inseparable link with the essence of knowledge and the mission of the university. The essence of knowledge, regardless of which land and by which people, with which races and beliefs it is produced, is global and international in nature because it is effective in the life and intellectual and spiritual life of all the people of the world. On the other hand, the university, as it comes from the meaning of this sacred word, is the place of production, promotion and application of knowledge to improve the standard of living of the general public. It is in the university that the talents of young people are brought to bear, and they provide fields for the production, improvement and evolution of knowledge by delving into different intellectual and practical dimensions of human beings and by entering diverse fields of knowledge and skills. Therefore, knowledge and university itself is international; Therefore, it might be better to raise the question in a different way and examine it from another angle. In my opinion, the right question is to ask how to improve the international presence of the university?

The answer to this question is very difficult. Group work and specialized meetings are needed to be able to explore this question from the necessary dimensions. However, I will categorize the brief answer in several cases as follows:

A: Assessing the needs and identifying the common intellectual, scientific, industrial, artistic, economic, and livelihood needs of all people, and of course with an emphasis on national and regional needs.

B: prioritizing education and research; It means prioritizing essential and priority needs over secondary and long-term needs

C: Strengthening and equipping the fields of transferring indigenous knowledge to other nations and sharing national knowledge; This can be achieved by publishing reference books, scientific journals, holding conferences and creating spaces for discussion and exchange of opinions in person and virtually.

- What is the role of international student recruitment in scientific becoming a scientific reference?
If we consider three basic pillars for science and knowledge, our duty will be to attract the best in all three areas. If attention is paid to attracting these three areas, the rest of the path will be covered with speed and confidence. The explanation of the three pillars of knowledge and the role of attraction in it can be considered as follows:
A: The first and original pillar: sources of knowledge. We should always pay attention to the most appropriate, complete, practical and accurate sources in choosing books and compiling sources. A good book is most effective in clarifying the path of knowledge.
B: The role of teacher and teacher: being a teacher is a high position. Teachers do the work of prophets. Therefore, in recruiting professors, in addition to special knowledge and expertise, it is necessary to consider his human and social characteristics. Even in my opinion, appearance, type of clothing, facial movements, tone of voice, etc. should also be taken into consideration. Before being influenced by the scientific personality of the professor, the student is influenced by his appearance.
A: The student is the third main pillar in the knowledge system. A huge part of his scientific and human personality is formed in the hands of the professor, but in any case, the student himself also needs conditions and characteristics. In attracting students, we should try to consider their talent, intelligence, intelligence, politeness, hard work and perseverance, gratitude and scientific thirst.
If the necessary care is taken in attracting these three pillars, the university's goal will be achieved and the university will be on the international track by itself.

What effect does the policy and strategies of attracting international students have on realizing authority and internationalization of the university?
Every university from the beginning of its establishment is constantly surrounded by its weaknesses and strengths and takes action to eliminate its shortcomings and weaknesses and strengthen its abilities. In our university, for a long time, it was believed that our main duty is to train an expert force with excellent human virtues to meet the internal needs of the country. Therefore, we only paid attention to the education of students who can be attracted to the labor market. Of course, the meaning of the labor market includes the fields of culture; It was economy, industry, agriculture, mining, etc. Gradually, the conclusion was reached that if the university looks at its role with a comprehensive view, it will be able to train foreign experts in addition to training Iranian students. This would definitely pose a serious challenge to the university. In this challenge, we realized to what extent our knowledge has a global demand and to what extent it is only useful for domestic purposes. This challenge led us to a careful revision of the titles of the disciplines and courses.
I would like to add that appropriate academic and cultural behavior with students will make them develop a special interest in the university where they study, and wherever the opportunity is provided, from the merits of the university, professors, scientific programs, classmates, and the people of the land that they are with They have been gathered to speak. If we leave great memories in these fields in the minds of foreign students and make them love our university, we have taken a big step towards realizing the authority and globalization of our university.

4- Does your university have a long-term plan and certain strategies in student recruitment marketing?

Certainly yes. We are in direct contact with intermediary companies. On the other hand, we introduce our university to them by writing brochures, completing the university website, and creating a non-Iranian alumni association. Also, after their presence in Iran, we prepare joint cultural programs for them, scientific tourism, cultural tourism and nature tourism, which is very effective.

5- What should be done to increase the attractiveness of studying in Iran?

Studying in Iran is attractive for many countries, including regional countries, for various reasons. However, to increase this attraction, it is necessary for universities to strengthen their scientific infrastructure, including workshops, laboratories and libraries. Develop their infrastructure and comfort, sports and dormitory facilities. In different opportunities, give the volunteers the possibility of cultural exchange and presentation of cultural programs of other countries. Provide foreign students with the opportunity to visit industrial, agricultural, mining, museums and cultural centers, and even if possible, allow them to work and do internships in some sectors of industry and agriculture.

6- What should be done to show and introduce the advantages and attractiveness of studying in Iran?

A: Creating an association of non-Iranian graduates of the university and providing a basis for their permanent communication with each other in virtual and real space.

B: Holding educational workshops and workshops

A: Using the experience and opinion of foreign students

D: Setting up joint art exhibitions

E: Providing the possibility of printing their works, articles and books

And: creating various tourism tours including: university tour, city tour, province tour, country tour

7- What is your opinion about the international fair of study?

The main task of the fair is naturally to display the most interesting issues related to its subject area in a short and compact time and place and introduce them to everyone. From this point of view, the importance of this exhibition is clear by itself. Especially, it provides the possibility of exchanging experiences and getting acquainted with each other's activities.

8- How do you evaluate the role of this fair in realizing scientific authority and transforming Persian into a standard language in the field of science?

If the achievements of the fair continue and become effective in the executive programs of the universities, we can have positive expectations from it, but if it is only a rhetorical and non-continuous program, we should not be too attached to it. This fair should have two parts: 1- What we have now 2- What we would like to have. If we focus on the second part and program, we have helped to realize the scientific and linguistic authority of the country.

What is the role of your university in increasing the attractiveness of the fair and do you have a program as a pre-event on the occasion of the fair in cooperation with the student affairs organization?

We are trying to exhibit theses, theses, and articles written with these students.

We will prepare interviews from them for broadcasting.

We will present joint artistic and cultural products.

We will use the foreign students themselves to manage parts of the exhibition

We will ask for opinions from foreign students and we will ask and present their positive and negative opinions about studying in Iran.

10- Your suggestions and ideas to increase the impact and achievements of the exhibition

In addition to the real space, which is naturally short-term, you can create a permanent fair in the virtual space on the website of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology and the website of each university and update its contents continuously.

Great care should be taken in choosing fair events.

Iranian and non-Iranian students should be used to understand their expectations and needs.

On the sidelines of the exhibition, question and answer sessions and roundtables will be held

Prepare and present appropriate video clips of tourist attractions, the structure and different departments of each university, and the classes and successes of foreign students.

Small books introducing the cultural, scientific and artistic capabilities of Iran should be prepared and provided to the participants.
